What is PANDAS

PANDAS (which stands for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections), is characterized by the sudden onset of symptoms like those of obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD) or tic disorders following an infection with streptococcus bacteria(group A strep) or scarlet fever.

PANS (which stands for Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) is characterized by the sudden-onset of OCD symptoms where no associated streptococcal infection has occurred.
